Starring Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna, and Akshaye Khanna in lead roles, Maddock Films finally dropped the trailer of the period drama Chhava. Vicky appears majestic and fearsome as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.

A bloody and gritty trailer seems to promise power packed performances for the audience. Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films, the film is an adaptation of Shivaji Sawant’s Marathi novel Chhava.

The trailer opens with a montage of the battles of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, his military pursuits, and his marriage with Maharani Yesubai (Rashmika). As the trailer progresses, the thirst for vengeance takes centre stage as Aurangzeb (Akshaye Khanna) vows to defeat Sambhaji.

The action-packed film is set against an escalating and bloody war between the Marathas and Mughals.

If the trailer is to go by anything, it promises to showcase Vicky Kaushal’s acting prowess in its full form. With intense battle scenes and a fierce fight with a lion, the trailer is exciting and offers a worthwhile theatre experience. The music has been composed by none other than AR Rahman who has blended the soundtrack with elements of Marathi folk music to enhance it.

The film is described as a “stirring tale of the courageous warrior whose coronation in 1681 marked the beginning of a legendary reign.”

Chhava will hit theatres on February 14, 2025.
