The much-anticipated first single from Thug Life, titled ‘Jinguchaa’, lyrical video is finally out, and it’s already setting the tone for one of the biggest cinematic events of the year.

The song, composed by Oscar-winner A R Rahman, marks the musical start to the powerhouse collaboration between Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam, who are reuniting after nearly four decades since their iconic film Nayakan (1987).

The song “Jinguchaa” features glimpses of behind-the-scenes moments from the shoot and appears to be a vibrant celebration number. The song also showcases Sanya Malhotra and Silambarasan’s power-packed dance moves.

Launched at a grand event held at Kalaivanar Arangam in Chennai, Kamal Haasan expressed his excitement about the project: “Thug Life is the kind of cinema I’d like to see. I’m glad I got to act in it and produce it too. It has been done with a lot of love, for a discerning audience.”

Thug Life is an upcoming Tamil-language gangster action drama co-written by Kamal Haasan and directed by Mani Ratnam.

Filmed across diverse locations like Chennai, New Delhi, Pondicherry, Kanchipuram, and parts of North India, Thug Life is said to be a gritty, large-scale gangster saga. The film also features action choreography by Anbariv, cinematography by Ravi K. Chandran, and editing by A. Sreekar Prasad.

The soundtrack by A R Rahman marks his 19th collaboration with Mani Ratnam and third with Kamal Haasan.

Interestingly, Kamal Hassan himself penned lyrics for one of the songs in the album, reportedly completing them in under an hour. Rahman praised the synergy of the team and hinted at more genre-defying music to come. Thug Life is slated to hit theatres worldwide on June 5, 2025.
