Kerala High Court Stays Release Of The Controversial Film 'The Kerala Story 2'
Kochi, Kerala: The Kerala High Court has stayed the release of the controversial movie The Kerala Story 2 today, February 26. The court made the ruling citing non-compliance by the censor board in its certification process.
The court had earlier sought the government’s stand on whether a screening of the film can be arranged before it decides the pleas challenging the movie’s Censor certificate.

Delivering the verdict today, the court pointed out that there is non-application of mind by the censor board” while certifying the movie. The court observed that the movie has the potential to disturb the communal harmony.
“The very content in the teaser itself, which is conceded to be part of the movie, has the prima facie potential to distort the public perception and disturb communal harmony,” the court stated.

The court further asked the censor board to re-examine the issue, given the fact that the board ignored the guidelines for film certification
“Dissemination of content which has a tendency to create discord, disturb law and order, even undermine social harmony cannot come within the gamut of freedom of speech and expression enshrined in Article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution of India,” the Court added.
