'Movie Has Wrong Portrayal, People Here Live In Total Harmony': High Court On 'The Kerala Story 2' Film
Kochi, Kerala: The Kerala High Court has sought the Union Government’s stand on whether a screening of the film ‘Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond’ can be arranged before it decides the pleas challenging the movie’s Censor certificate.
The movie allegedly depicted the state in a bad light, sparking outrage from Malayalis against screening of the film. The court stated that the movie portrayed the people in Kerala wrongly as they live in total harmony in the state.

Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas remarked that the movie has a wrong indication and can also incite passion, asking the censor board if they have considered that. The judge pointed out that the apprehension of the people of Kerala cannot be ignored since the makers have used the name of Kerala in the film title.
“Normally, I do not interfere with any movie. Artistic freedom. But you are saying that it is inspired by true events and the name Kerala is given, which can create some communal tension. I will watch the movie tomorrow. You can arrange a screening of the movie tomorrow,” the judge said,” Live Law quoted the judge.

On February 19, the high court had issued notice to the producers of the Hindi feature film titled ‘Kerala Story 2 Goes Beyond’ in a writ petition challenging the certification granted to the movie. The petition had challenged the movie trailer’s scene that depicts Hindu women being force-fed beef.
