Lena Announces Marriage To Group Captain Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair Of Gaganyaan Mission

Right after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi today unveiled the names of the four astronauts selected for India’s Gaganyaan Mission, Malayalam actress Lena announced her marriage to Group Captain Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair, one of the members of the prestigious mission. According to an Instagram post by the versatile actress, she was waiting for the right moment to announce the details of the arranged marriage, of which the wedding took place on January 17 this year.

“Today, 27 February, 2024, our Prime Minister Modi ji awarded the first Indian astronaut wings to Indian Air Force Fighter Pilot ,Group Captain Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair. It is a historic moment of pride for our country, our state of Kerala and me personally. In order to maintain the officially required confidentiality, I was waiting for this announcement to let you know that I got married to Prasanth on 17 January, 2024 in a traditional ceremony through an arranged marriage,” she wrote on Instagram.

Lena, born as Lena Kumar, is a celebrated actress in Malayalam cinema, renowned for her exceptional acting prowess. She has numerous acclaimed movies in her kitty, including “Traffic,” “Ee Adutha Kaalathu,” “Spirit,” “Left Right Left,” “Celluloid,” “Ennu Ninte Moideen,” “Jacobinte Swargarajyam,” “Udaharanam Sujatha,” and “Koode.” The actress is known for her versatility and depth as an actor, earning her widespread recognition and critical acclaim.

In her personal life, Lena was previously married to Abhilash Kumar, a filmmaker. However, the couple parted ways, and Lena has since been focusing on her career in the film industry, continuing to enthrall audiences with her compelling performances.

Group Captain Prashanth Nair is a Sukhoi fighter pilot hailing from Nenmara in Palakkad, Kerala, born to Valampil Balakrishnan and Koolanghaat Pramila. His journey from granary of Kerala to the skies above exemplifies courage, dedication, and excellence.

Prashanth’s early years saw him pursuing engineering studies at NSS Engineering College, Palakkad, where his passion for serving the nation led him to join the prestigious National Defense Academy (NDA). Commissioned into the Indian Air Force in June 1999, he embarked on a journey marked by relentless pursuit of excellence.

His stellar academic achievements, including first-class honors from the US Air Command and Staff College and the prestigious ‘Sword of Honour’ from the Hyderabad Air Force Academy in 1998, underscore his commitment to excellence and leadership.

During their rigorous 18-month training in Russia, according to reports, he demonstrated exceptional leadership and skill, earning the respect of his peers and mentors alike.

Lena was in news recently with her comments on spirituality she made during an interview with The New Indian Express, while discussing her book, The Autobiography of God. The book details how to attain self-realisation. In the interview, she talked about her spiritual journey, and her recollection of her past lives. The actress said she remember a lot of her past life, and when the reporters asked her who she was in her recent past life; she replied “I was a Buddhist monk, and died at the age of 63.” She then continued that is why she got a spontaneous urge to go to Himalayas, because she had died near the Tibet-Nepal border. “I remember the entire lifetime, so I felt like going there; that’s why I was feeling like shaving my hair off.”
