The south super star actress Nayanthara (Nayans as fans calls her) is now facing a critical backlash for using “heavy-makeup” in promoting her own recently introduced skincare brand.

The actress launched her own skincare line “9SKIN” on September 14 this year and started sale of products from September 29. She herself appeared in the promotion advertisements and said that the brand is the result of her six years of constant effort and dedication. They also spread an encouragement to embrace “self love” through the endeavour.

The brand was well received initially and highly acclaimed by her fans, but lost the initial flamboyance when more pictures and product cards in which Nayanthara is seen advertising the brand got released through their official social media handles.

The highly anticipated “9SKIN” also earned stark criticism once the product details started appearing on the website. Netizens criticized the prize, mostly ranging from Rs 1000 to Rs 1800 on each product, citing that the products are unaffordable for the majority of the people.

Why the actress promoting her brand line, which focus on skin-care routines, while wearing heavy makeup, fans keep asking.

With “9SKIN”, the actress is following the footsteps of other Bollywood heroines like Deepika Padukone (82°E), Katrina Kaif (Kay Beauty), Priyanka Chopra (Anomaly), Sonakshi Sinha (SoEzi), Lisa Haydon (Naked), Sunny Leone (Starstruck by SL), and Lara Dutta (Arias) who had ventured into the beauty and healthcare industry earlier.

Nayanthara also co-owns lip balm company with her friend and business partner Dr Renita Rajan, a dermatologist.
