Vicky Kaushal and Triptii Dimri’s Bad Newz get mixed reactions form audience. Though the ‘Tauba Tauba’ song from the film went viral for Vicky’s smooth moves, it looks like the film could not pull off that much admiration.
According to Hindustan Times review, there is “nothing fantastic” about the movie. While saying that Bad Newz isn’t that bad, the review said it surely struggles to deliver the perfect rom-com that you expect from its premise. The review said while Bad Newz is a “spiritual sequel (whatever that means) to the hilarious Good Newwz, this latest outing starring Vicky Kaushal, Triptii Dimri and Ammy Virk is rather bizarre predictable and somewhat chaotic”.
The review also added that the film is plagued with stereotypes that you wish had taken a backseat by now – Punjabis loving rajma chawal, mumma’s boys being careless husbands, women choosing career over marriage, and so on.

NDTV said while the film is not that bad, it is not good enough to be marked as an all-out laugh riot. It said Bad News is “more frizzle than sizzle”. It said the trailer had said it all and there was no surprise element in the film. Hindustan Times also opined the same.
According to the review, Bad Newz struggles to find the right combination of the biology of the relationships and the physics of the plot. The lack of combustible chemistry between Vicky and Triptii is another story, it said. NDTV said the film relies on Vicky Kaushal to pull it out of the fire.
India Today said the only good news in Bad Newz is Vicky Kaushal. It said Vicky Kaushal, Ammy Virk, and Triptii Dimri’s trio suffer at the hands of a shoddy screenplay, exhaustingly long sitcom-style jokes, and background music that deserved a mute button.

According to the review, “The writing is shallow and flat. The punches never land. The film even tries satire and parody, but the gags are so weak that they lose air before taking off. Some of the lines feel like leftovers from a prime-time TV laughter challenge audition. The wafer-thin silver lining to the film is Vicky Kaushal”. India Today ended the review by saying that “Tauba Tauba ! There is no good news in this Bad Newz”.
Accoridng to Timeline, Vicky Kaushal is a treat to watch and is the only saving grace of the movie, which gained attention because of the viral “Tauba Tauba” song and his moves in it. It’s a good effort gone in vain. It would have been much better if the writers and the director had a solid plan.
