Actor-dancer Nora Fatehi has finally addressed the controversy surrounding the song Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke, making it clear that she had no involvement in the controversial Hindi version that sparked backlash online.

In a detailed video statement on Instagram today, Nora revealed that the song was originally shot nearly three years ago in Kannada for the film KD: The Devil, where she starred alongside Sanjay Dutt.

She said she had agreed to the project, believing it was a remake of the iconic Bollywood track from Khalnayak and trusted the filmmakers’ translations during the shoot.

However, the controversy erupted after a Hindi version of the song, featuring allegedly vulgar lyrics, was released without her knowledge or approval.

Nora stated that she was neither consulted nor informed about the adaptation, adding that she only became aware of it later.

“I had no idea about the Hindi version. They didn’t take my permission,” she said, stressing that she relies on filmmakers for accurate translations when working in unfamiliar languages.

The Hindi version, written by Raqueeb Alam and composed by Arjun Janya, was eventually taken down following public outrage and a complaint filed with the Central Board of Film Certification.

Alam later issued an apology, stating that he had only translated the original Kannada lyrics word-for-word.

Nora also revealed that she had raised concerns with the filmmakers after hearing the Hindi version at an event, predicting backlash. She chose to distance herself from the project and did not participate in promotions.

Highlighting broader industry issues, Nora said artists often have limited control over final outputs, especially without strong backing. She urged the media and public to hold filmmakers accountable rather than targeting performers alone.

Crediting public backlash for the song’s removal, Nora concluded that the episode underscores the importance of creative consent and responsibility in filmmaking.
