Prithviraj On 'L2: Empuraan' Clashing With 'Sikandar' And 'Veera Dheera Sooran'
This Eid weekend is filled with major releases in Indian cinema with Mohanlal’s L2: Empuraan, Salman Khan’s Sikandar and Vikram’s Veera Dheera Soora. Even though the big-budget film by renowned stars offer different genres for the fans, they are also set to witness an intense clash at the box office.
L2: Empuraan, the highly-awaited sequel by director Prithviraj Sukumaran, has been shattering records at the box office even before its release. Touted to be the most expensive film of the Malayalam cinema, the film promises to offer a spectacular visual experience with mind-blowing storytelling. After a long wait of nearly half a decade, the sequel to Lucifer will finally hit theatres tomorrow, March 27.

L2: Empuraan vs Sikandar
Since L2: Empuraan is releasing in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi languages, the film will clash with Salman Khan’s Sikandar, which will be releasing on March 30. In a recent promotional event, Prithviraj addressed the clash and clarified that there “is no competition” between the two films.
Wishing the Sikandar team, Prithvi said, “Salman Khan is one of the biggest stars in the country, and there is no competition between the two movies. I hope it becomes a blockbuster.”
He further added, “I will have no complaints if you watch L2: Empuraan at 11 a.m. and Sikandar at 1 p.m.”
L2: Empuraan vs Veera Dheera Sooran
On the Kollywood front, L2: Empuraan will clash with Vikram and director Arun Kumar’s action thriller, Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2, which will be releasing on the same day, March 27.
During a recent media reaction in Kerala, Vikram playfully revealed he asked his wife, Shailaja Balakrishnan, a huge Mohanlal fan, which film she planned to watch first. Her reaction? She would watch both. The actor, also a longtime admirer of Mohanlal, echoed her sentiment, stating that he too, would be watching both films.

He further highlighted the beauty of India’s multilingual film culture, saying, “Now, there is no Malayalam, Tamil or Telugu. It’s all the same. Different languages, different cultures—let’s just enjoy it.”
The film stars Vikram, Dushara Vijayan, and SJ Suryah on board, and Malayalam actor Suraj Venjaramoodu’s exciting Tamil debut.
Interestingly, both Empuraan and Veera Dheera Sooran feature Suraj Venjaramoodu. Looks like whatever the end result turns out to be, Suraj is going to have a good time regardless!
