Mohanlal, the legendary actor who takes Malayalam cinema to its heights, turned 65 today. Currently basking in the back-to-back success of the blockbusters Empuraan and Thudarum, Mohanlal’s birthday is a special day for fans all around.

The actor who remains an unparalleled figure in the Malayalam film industry for over several decades was showered with love from prominent figures. Here are some heartwarming birthday wishes which made the day even more special.

Among the hundreds of wishes, a notable one came from the Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. While paying tribute to the maverick actor’s contribution to Indian cinema, the Kerala CM, on his X handle, shared a picture of himself with the actor and wrote, “Happy birthday dear Mohanlal.”

Mohanlal’s dearest friend and the legendary actor Mammootty also showered his love with a sweet birthday wish. His short yet heartfelt tweet on the X handle reads, “Happy Birthday Dear Lal.”

The next heartwarming wish comes from his frequent collaborator and friend, producer Antony Perumbavoor. The duo, who offered the blockbuster political thriller sequel L2: Empuraan, is also known for their friendship and the mutual respect. While sharing a set of pictures from memorable moments, Antony wrote, “Happy birthday dearest Lal Sir.”

Prithviraj Sukumaran, the filmmaker behind Mohanlal’s blockbuster franchise Lucifer, showered wishes on the actor’s birthday. While sharing a picture from the Empuraan shoot, he wrote on his Instagram story, “Happy birthday, Laletta! Wish you another record breaking year ahead!”

Mohanlal’s Empuraan co-star, Manju Warrier also showered her wishes and respect for the legendary actor on his birthday. Manju Warrier, with a sweet photo conveyed her wishes. Her Instagram post, not only conveyed wishes but also radiated her respect for the legend. She wrote, “Happiest Birthday, dear Laletta! Love and respect always and forever!”

Versatile actor Dulquer Salmaan also conveyed his wishes to his Lalettan. In his Instagram story, Dulquer shared an old photo of Mohanlal and penned a small note that read, “Here is wishing our dearest Lalettan a very happy birthday. Praying for the best of health, peace, and even more wonderful movies and timeless roles for you.”

On the special day, makers of Mohanlal’s upcoming periodic film, Kannappa, shared a short teaser of his character. While sharing the teaser, the makers of the Mukesh Kumar film wrote, “Wishing a legendary icon, Padma Bhushan Shri Mohanlal Garu, a very Happy Birthday! His portrayal of Kirata in the epic saga #Kannappa promises to be a powerful blend of divine strength and cinematic brilliance.”

Hindi film actor Suniel Shetty too wished him. “The most warm, wonderful and ever-inspiring soul I’ve had the honour of knowing,” he wrote.

Musician Jakes Bejoy also wished a “phenomenal” birthday to Lalettan.

The X post also read, “From generations of unforgettable performances to stepping into the shoes of a fierce warrior, #Lalettan continues to inspire millions.”

In a career spanning over 45 years, Malayalam film icon Mohanlal has starred in over 400 films across different industries. For his unwavering contribution to the Indian cinema, the governement honoured the actor with Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan, the highest civillian awards of the country. Moreover, he is also a winner of five National film awards and other numerous accolades.
