One Direction member Liam Payne had multiple drugs in his system at the time of his death, according to ABC News, citing a toxicology report. Liam died on October 16 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, after falling from his hotel room’s third-floor balcony. ABC News reports that the toxicology report shows Payne had “pink cocaine,” a recreational drug containing methamphetamine, ketamine, and ecstasy. Other drugs detected in his bloodstream included benzodiazepine, crack, and also cocaine. A makeshift aluminium pipe for ingesting substances was found nearby as per the report.
Witnesses told ABC News that Payne acted erratically before his death as hotel staff described him as “an aggressive man overwhelmed with drugs and alcohol.” They called emergency services and authorities discovered a chaotic scene with broken items and scattered drugs.
According to the reports, Liam Payne had struggled with addiction and suicidal thoughts, previously entering rehab multiple times. His girlfriend, Kate Cassidy was with him in Argentina but returned to Florida two days before his death. According to ABC News, the investigators continue probing the circumstances.

Earlier this week the authorities said in a report that the body of Liam Payne will not be returned to his family until authorities finish their clinical tests. This is expected to happen next week but results might be available as soon as this weekend. Geoff Payne, Liam’s father arrived in Buenos Aires last Friday. His father greeted fans outside the hotel thanking them for their support and prayers. He extended gratitude for the memorial filled with photos, letters, candles, and flowers.
Following his death, Liam’s former bandmates Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik honoured him with a group statement and individual remembrances. Fans also mourned the loss of a gifted artist who had grown alongside them and his legacy extends beyond One Direction‘s impressive discography.
