'Retro' Teaser Out: Suriya Explores Chapters Of Bloodshed And Romance
After the underwhelming performance of the Siva directorial Kanguva, actor Suriya aims to capture hearts with his high-octane action flick with Karthik Subbaraj’s Retro.
After introducing actor Suriya’s look for the film, the team unveiled the title teaser as a Christmas treat for fans. The teaser introduces different chapters of the film, such as love, violence, promise, rowdyism, and hooliganism, and hints at a high-octane action saga.
The previous character teaser revealed the actor’s gangster look with a menacing smile, and this teaser offers something more. It opens with Suriya’s character and Pooja Hegde’s character sitting by the serene banks of a ghat in Varanasi.

As she ties a sacred band around his wrist, he gazes into her eyes and declares, “I will control my temper. I will stop working with my father: violence, rowdyism, hooliganism. I’ll leave it all behind from this moment. I’ll try to smile and be happy. The purpose of my life—in your words, my dhammam—is love. Pure love. That’s it. I’m laying it all out, honestly and directly. Now, tell me—should we get married?”
But as a contrast, the teaser also highlights the past nature of Suriya’s character as a violent and angry man and the other associates of the story. So, with this, fans can expect an exciting revenge thriller for the next summer.

Sharing the teaser, actor Suriya wrote, “Merry Christmas Dear All #Retro Summer 2025. Meet you all soon!@karthiksubbaraj @hegdepooja @C_I_N_E_M_A_A @Music_Santhosh @kshreyaas (sic).”
Suriya’s previous venture, Kanguva, failed at the box office. Even though the film was praised for its grandeur and spectacular visuals, Kanguva failed to meet the expectations of the audience. However, the film, which was expected to make its OTT presence around Pongal, surprised fans with its early debut on the platform.
