"Suriya 46" Begins Filming: High Hopes Riding on Suriya’s First Film With Venky Atluri

The much-anticipated Suriya 46 has officially gone on floors, setting off a wave of excitement among film buffs. Backed by Sithara Entertainments in association with Fortune Four Cinemas, the film marks the first collaboration between Tamil superstar Suriya and acclaimed director Venky Atluri.

The shooting commenced on June 9, as originally announced. The project was formally launched on May 19 with a traditional pooja ceremony held at the revered Murugan Temple in Palani, attended by key team members including producer Naga Vamsi, actress Mamitha Baiju, and director Venky Atluri.


While plot details remain tightly under wraps, what we do know is that Mamitha Baiju plays the female lead. The technical team brings together some top talent: Nimish Ravi will helm the visuals as cinematographer, while Navin Nooli takes charge of editing. The music is expected to be composed by GV Prakash Kumar, though an official confirmation is awaited.


This marks another busy year for Suriya, who was last seen in Retro, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, alongside Pooja Hegde, Joju George, Jayaram, and Nasser. He also has Suriya 45 lined up with RJ Balaji, which went on floors in November 2024.

Before Suriya 46, the actor was seen in Kanguva and Retro, both of which underperformed at the Indian box office. While Kanguva managed a relatively higher worldwide gross, Retro saw a more modest commercial run.
