The trailer of India Today”s latest original documentary “The Indrani Mukerjea: Story Buried Truth” was released on Monday. The trailer captures details of the sensational Sheena Bora murder mystery which still continues to pique public imagination. OTT platform Netflix shared the first look of the documentary, stating that it will be released on February 23.

The documentary has been directed by Uraaz Bahl and Shaana Levy, with the four-episode docuseries revolving around the chaotic incident that gripped the nation. Indrani Mukerjea and her daughter Vidhie feature in the docuseries.

In the trailer, the spotlight remains on Indrani Mukerjea, with commentary from the journalists who broke the news, her family friends, and lawyers. The trailer also puts Indrani in front of the camera, where she is asked, “Did you murder your daughter Sheena?” Indrani smiles and retorts, “What a stupid question.”

For the unversed, Mukerjea was granted bail by the Supreme Court in 2022, almost seven years after she was arrested by the Mumbai Police for the murder of her daughter. She was arrested after her former driver, Shyamvar Rai, confessed about his involvement his involvement in the case.

The police stated that Bora was Indrani”s daughter from her previous relationship. Her body was found from a village in Raigad district where she was buried. The body was found in a decomposed state and remained unidentified until Rai gave his statement in 2015.

The case was transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in September 2015 who booked Peter Mukerjea, the ex-husband of Indrani. The CBI claimed that the couple was unhappy with Bora”s relationship with Rahul, Peter”s son from his last marriage.
