Tovino Thomas’ Action Drama 'Pallichattambi’ Hits Theatres Today

The much-anticipated Malayalam action drama Pallichattambi, starring Tovino Thomas in the lead, has finally hit theatres today, coinciding with the festive occasion of Vishu.

Originally scheduled for a worldwide release on April 10, the film’s arrival was pushed by a few days, building even greater curiosity among audiences.

Directed by Dijo Jose Antony and written by S. Suresh Babu, Pallichattambi is set in the 1950s–60s in the high ranges of Idukki.

The film promises a gripping narrative rooted in a time marked by superstition, feudal power structures, and social oppression.

At its core, the story follows a fearless man who dares to challenge authoritarian forces and entrenched societal norms.

Tovino Thomas plays the central character, Christopher. He is joined by Kayadu Lohar as Rebecca and veteran actor Vijayaraghavan as a church vicar.

The ensemble cast also includes Siddique, Johny Antony, Sudheer Karamana, Baburaj, and Alexander Prasanth in pivotal roles. Adding to the excitement, Prithviraj Sukumaran reportedly appears in a special cameo.

The film’s technical crew adds significant weight to the project.

Cinematography is handled by Tijo Tomy, while editing is by Sreejith Sarang. Music is composed by Jakes Bejoy, whose background scores are expected to elevate the film’s intense narrative.

Produced under the banners of World Wide Films and C Qube Bros Entertainments, Pallichattambi was mounted on a large scale, with shooting spanning multiple locations across states after its initial schedule in Thodupuzha. Special attention has been given to recreating the period setting authentically, with award-winning costume designer Manjusha Radhakrishnan contributing to the film’s visual depth.

Interestingly, the makers had planned a multilingual release in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada, aiming for a wider reach across Indian audiences.
