Turbo, the Mammootty starrer has hit the silver screen today. It does need to spell out that the star delivered the role in exact measure. In Turbo, nothing much for defogging- things are crystal clear and detailing of the movie lies as just embellishment. Mammootty pulled off his role as Turbo Jose with extraordinary energy in action sequences. The star gave another treat for the fans, a little break from the classy roles he did in his last couple of movies like Kaathal The Core and Bramayugam.
According to Times of India, Midhun as the scriptwriter and Vysakh as the director of the film “managed to deliver a film that never lags and is constantly entertaining, with nice emotional moments too, such as Jose’s backstory. Also sentiments are level-headed”. The review said that the film also has all the elements of a mass entertainer in place with amazingly choreographed fights, backed by perfect cinematography and edits.
India Today called Turbo, a Mammootty”s show. The media outlet said the star is back with yet another brilliant performance after Bramayugam. It said Mammootty”s charm and the film”s technical brilliance makes it all the more interesting. The review said that the “mass masala entertainer also has a bunch of twists and turns, especially in the climax, that make things intriguing”. The review also points the way Turbo deals with how the police and political system are corrupted and how men with money can easily exploit the system.
As per OnManorama, Turbo falters in several places as it tries to blend several genres. It said, Turbo tries to fill some of its glaring loopholes with the power of its performers. The review also said that, as mindlessly over the top with its theatrics, Turbo may appear, the film”s “neat writing keeps a tight leash on the checks and balances. So, we get from point A to B, with the detailing of a well-fleshed drama, and not an empty entertainer”.
Timeline Review said that Turbo ticks only one box when it comes to entertainment – it’s Mammootty in a Vysakh movie. The review points that the thing with mass action flicks are that if it’s not neatly packed, there is always a chance it might spill out of the container and will corrupt everything around it. The director and the lead actor were careful about this reality and they made it sure that the whole packaging is intact – and you get a mass spectacle.
