Indian actress and politician Gautami Tadimalla declared her resignation from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday, and said that she went through unconceivable crisis, denied of any support from the party leaders. She was one of the leading south Indian actress from 1987 to 1998 and a long-time member of the party, who joined BJP 25 years ago.

On declaring her resignation, Ms Tadimalla released an official statement on her X (formerly Twitter) handle and accused senior BJP leaders for supporting an individual who cheated her of money and property. She was deficient of any support from the party leadership in time of personal crisis. “A journey of 25 yrs comes to a conclusion today. My resignation letter”, she wrote on X, captioning the copy of the resignation letter.

The actress-politician claimed that a person named C Alagappan befriended her 20 years ago and she entrusted him with managing her properties and land dealings. It was recently she discovered Mr Alagappan defrauded her of the same. While pretending to welcome Ms Tadimalla and her daughter as part of his family, he swindled her properties, money, and documents.

According to the actress, the man was using her vulnerable and isolated situation for his personal financial benefits. Ms Tadimalla lost both of her parents – “an orphan”, widowed, and a single mother. She was married to the Mumbai based businessman Sandeep Bhatia in 1998, but broke up very soon in the next year.

When the actress came to know about the fraud activities, she approached law “with full respect” and filed several complaints to Chief Minister and police, but the process went dragged. She also mentioned how BJP refused to give her ticket for the Rajapalayam seat in the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections, which was promised earlier. According to her, even rejected, she worked for the party to strengthen its support at the “grassroots level”.

It was recently the actress realized that she completely lack any support from the party even after “25 years of steadfast loyalty”. As said in the resignation letter, she recognised that many senior members of the party have been enabling her rival Mr Alagappan and he remains absconding since the last 40 days, even after the FIRs had been filed.

On concluding the letter, she expressed her hope to get justice as she trust the Chief Minister of the state, police department, and the judicial system. Ms Tadimalla also claimed that, she issued her resignation from the BJP with great pain and sorrow, but with firm resolve as she is fighting for justice for herself, her hard earned financial support, and her daughter’s future as a lone mother and single parent.
