Former assistant of actor Vin Diesel sued him for sexual assault which is claimed to happen in 2010. The Fast and Furious star categorically denied all the claims made against him. The former assistant, Asta Joanasson filed a case against the star on Thursday. She is further suing the star for wrongful termination, claiming his company fired her from job hours after the alleged attack.
The lawsuit said the said allegations took place in Atlanta’s St Regis hotel during the filming of the movie Fast Five. The lawsuit claimed that the 56-year-old actor “ignored Ms. Joanasson’s clear statement of non-consent”. It also said that “mere hours” after the alleged assault, the Fats and Furious star’s sister Samantha Vincent, who runs Vin Diesel’s Production Company One Race Films, contacted Ms. Joanasson and fired her.
Asta Joanasson is also suing Samantha Vincent and Vin Diesel’s production company. Ms. Vincent did not immediately respond to the accusations. Apart from the sexual battery, Ms. Joanasson’s lawsuit also includes claims of gender discrimination, illegal retaliation, emotional distress and wrongful termination. Vin Diesel’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman said in a written statement to CNN that “Vin Diesel categorically denies this claim in its entirety”.
The lawyer also said that this is the first time Vin Diesel, whose actual name is Mark Sinclair is hearing about the “13 year old claim made by a purportedly 9 day employee”. Ms. Joanasson’s lawyer said in statement to BBC News that Ms Joanasson “seeks to hold Vin Diesel and those who allowed and covered up his sexual assault accountable for their egregious actions”.
