Zoya Akthar's The Archies Get Mixed Reactions From Fans

After a long wait, The Archies has hit the Netflix platform. Helmed by Zoya Akthar, the movie was a musical ride into the era of 1964.

The Archies is the cinematic adaptation of the world famous The Archie comics. Directed by Zoya Akhtar, the film is a musical featuring Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor, Agastya Nanda, Vedang Raina, Yuvraj Menda, Mihir and Dot, a pack of star kids.

The movie got mixed reactions. While some liked the star cast, some didn’t. One of the X (formerly twitter) users wrote, the movie should have been Reggies and not Archies, as Vedang Raina was scoring high as Reggie.

Atlee, the director called the movie an “exceptionally remarkable musical film” and congratulated all the actors for their exceptional performance.

An account named Filmyverse said “Zoya Akthar direction butchers the original comic story” and complained that the “Nepo kids like Suhana Khan, Kushi Kapoor and Agastya Nanda etc can’t even speak Hindi properly or act”.

Another user said, “Suhana Khan has acted amazingly in this scene, above par and far beyond expectations.”

Another one thought Suhana Khan couldn’t make it. The user Ms. Khan was trying to be Poo (Kareena Kapoor) from Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham, but failed “miserably”.

Another user criticised Kushi Kapoor for lack of acting.

One wrote a critical and appreciated the “good try” from Zoya Akthar. The user said she “expected much more from Zoya Akthar”.

Another one opined that “at least the actors look the part” and compared the cast with Karan Johar’s Student of the Year, in which Siddharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan was portrayed as 17 year olds. The post read, “never forget Karan Johar sold them as 17 year olds”.
