Mumbai’s Masque was announced as the best restaurant in India during the unveiling of Asia”s 50 Best Restaurants for 2024 list, held at a grand ceremony in Seoul on March 26. Tokyo”s Sezanne topped the list as the best Asian restaurant this year. Masque, the avant-garde dining destination in Mumbai, ranked 23rd, closely followed by New Delhi’s Indian Accent, which ranked 26th. On 44th rank came Chennai’s Avartana, ITC Grand Chola.
Led by the dynamic duo of restaurateur Aditi Dugar and acclaimed chef Varun Totlani, Masque has bagged the title of India’s Best Restaurant for the second time.
Housed in a former textile mill, Masque’s ten-course menu depicts the rich produce from the country with dishes such as the delicacy of Kashmiri morel mushrooms with patra, sea buckthorn pani puri, and more, as highlighted in the announcement post. The restaurant’s inventive twists with traditional Indian flavours have been remarked to be its trendsetting feature, making it “one of India’s most innovative dining destinations.”

In the 2023 list of Asia’s Best Restaurants, the same three dining places made it to the list. Delhi’s Indian Accent has been consistently named as the best restaurant in the country from 2015 to 2021. Mumbai’s Masque took the spot in 2023, and now again this year.

In an extended list featuring dining spaces ranked from 51 to 100, five Indian restaurants made it. Three of the five are Mumbai’s Americano, ranking 61st, The Bombay Canteen, ranking 70th, and Ekaa, ranking 98th. The other two establishments are Comorin (rank 79) in Gurugram and Dum Pukht in New Delhi (rank 87).
The top five best Asian restaurants include Tokyo’s Sezanne and Florilege. Bangkok’s Gaggan Anand took the third position, while Hong Kong’s The Chairman and Wing ranked fourth and fifth, respectively. Here”s the list of the Best 50 Asian Restaurants of 2024:
