Highlighting the significance of ethnic food, experiential travel online guide Taste Atlas recently published a list of “Best Food Cities in the World” featuring Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Chennai, and Lucknow in the Top 100. While Mumbai and Hyderabad were ranked 35th and 39th, respectively, Delhi was positioned at the 56th spot, and Chennai and Lucknow stood at 65th and 92nd, respectively.
Delhi and Mumbai served their famous chaats to make it to the top 50, while Hyderabadi Biryani, Chennai”s Dosa & Idli, Lucknow”s Mughlai dishes such as Kebabs and Biryani brought them to the top 100. According to Taste Atlas, the tastiest ethnic food on the menu is from Italy, as Rome adorned the top position in the list, with Bologna and Naples securing the 2nd and 3rd rank, respectively, with the country”s captivating pasta, piza, and cheese-based dishes.
The other cities that featured in the top 10 were: Vienna (Austria), Tokyo (Japan), Osaka (Japan), Hong Kong (China), Turin (Italy), Gaziantep (Turkey), Bandung (Indonesia), Poznan (Poland), San Fransisco (United States of America), Geneva (Switzerland), Makati (Philippines) and more.
Indian cities are known for treating visitors with their delectable ethnic foods such as Pav Bhaji, Dosa, Vada Pav, Chole Bhature, Kebabs, Nihari, Pani Puri, Chole Kulche, Biryani, and various kinds of chaats with a tinge of rich tradition and warm hospitality.
TasteAtlas is an experiential travel online guide for traditional food, authentic recipes, food critic reviews, and research articles about popular ingredients and dishes. Founded in 2015 by Italian journalist and entrepreneur Milan Benevetto, it describes itself as “a world atlas of traditional dishes, local ingredients, and authentic restaurants.”
TasteAtlas has prepared an interactive global food map with dish icons shown in their respective regions which contains nearly 10,000 dishes, drinks, and ingredients, as well as 9,000 restaurants.
