2 Killed As Massive Ganesh Idol Falls During Mumbai Procession
Mumbai, Maharashtra: On Saturday night, a 22-foot-tall Ganesh idol known as Bhuleshwaracha Raja fell during its procession near Jay Ambe Chowk in Mumbai’s Bhuleshwar area, killing at least two men.
The deceased are identified as Sanket Nevshe, 33, and Brijesh Hemant Joshi, 30. Several other people sustained injuries including five-year-old Lavanya Ganer and seven-year-old Divya Ganer.

As per the preliminary reports, loose nuts, bolts, or welding issues caused the imbalance when it was transportingt from Byculla or Lalbaug for Ganesh Chaturthi festivities. Emergency teams from the fire brigade, police, and ambulances rushed in, rescuing the trapped people, minimising the impact. Authorities have launched investigation into the incident including the transport setup for the festival.
