In the latest interview with India Today, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal claimed that some media houses recorded interviews with him but were not broadcast. The AAP supremo alleged that the interview was not broadcast by a few media channels after a call from the Prime Minister”s Office (PMO). The PMO or the government have not responded to the allegations by the Opposition INDIA alliance leader.
During the exclusive interview with India Today TV”s Preeti Choudhry, the AAP chief then alleged that there is an ugly war of succession in the saffron party as the Prime Minister is making way for Home Minister Amit Shah as his successor.
Explaining his allegations, Kejriwal said. “You go check on the net (internet), Amit Shah ji himself said in 2019 that we are retiring all the leaders of 75 years and above and there is no compromise over it. In 2014, after assuming the office of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi himself applied this rule that youngsters should get a chance. After attaining 75 years of age, no one will be given any responsibility in the party (BJP) and the government.”
The chief minister then said that the Prime Minister sidelined every leader one by one, Shivraj Singh Chouhan was removed, Vasundhara Raje was removed, Khattar Sahab was removed, and Dr Raman Singh was removed. “Yogiji is left, but there are rumours that now Yogiji will also be removed,” he added.
Notably, the AAP chief had earlier said that the Prime Minister would make the Union Home Minister Amit Shah his successor on the day he turns 75, noting an earlier statement of Narendra Modi on his retirement. The Prime Minister will turn 75 in September 2025.
However, the Amit Shah has denied Kejriwal”s allegations saying that Prime Minister Modi will complete his third term.
