Mahila Samman Yojna: Delhi WCD's 'No Such Scheme Exist' Remark Triggers Controversy

New Delhi: AAP ruled Delhi government’s Department of Women and Child Development has issued a statement regarding an alleged fraud scheme registration drive going on in the capital city. In the notice, the AAP clarified that no such scheme has been notified.

The clarification has triggered criticism from the BJP and a section of the public, wondering why the Mahila Samman Yojana announced by Kejriwal is being termed as non-existent. As per an earlier statement from AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal, the registration for the Mahila Samman scheme and Sanjeevani scheme, supposed to provide financial aid and free treatment to eligible Delhi women in Delhi, was scheduled to start on December 23.

Reacting to the clarification by the government, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kapil Mishra slammed former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal after the Delhi government’s Department of Women and Child Development flagged the scheme as fraud.

In the clarification notice issued by the Delhi government’s Department of Women and Child Development, it was noted that they have received information that some political functionaries and volunteers are visiting door to door and collecting details of the senior citizens while handing over some health scheme card.
It further claimed that due to the news reports of the alleged registration drive, several senior citizens have started visiting government hospitals and officers to inquire about the scheme.
The notice then asserted that the government does not have any such scheme and it has not authorized any groups of officers to carry out a registration drive. The notice also asked the citizens not to believe any calls, emails, or any other solicitation promising health benefits under the scheme. It also urged citizens not to provide their personal data to any such organizations.
