Amid a war of words between the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the infiltration of the illegal Rohingyas and Bangladeshis, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has issued an order to identify illegal Bangladeshi migrant children in schools.
The MCD has also asked not to issue birth certificates to illegal Bangladeshi migrants, in addition to directing all zones to take action to remove encroachment made by illegal Bangladeshi migrants.

The decision was made at a meeting held under the chairmanship of the Principal Secretary Home, GNCTD, on December 12, and the announcement came on Friday, directing all the respective heads of departments and zonal authorities of MCD to take certain preventive measures.
The order asks the education department to identify illegal Bangladeshi migrants while giving admission in municipal schools and conduct a proper identification and verification drive. B.P. Bhardwaj, Deputy Commissioner (HQ) MCD, asked the Public Health Department to take precautionary preventive measures while doing birth registration and issuing birth certificates.

Further, the Public Health Department was also directed to undertake an identification and verification drive to identify the registrants of birth certificates issued to illegal Bangladeshi migrants.
As the assembly election nears, the AAP and the BJP have been accusing each other of accommodating illegal migrants in the national capital. The issue kicked off when the AAP alleged deletion of voters names from the electoral roll, bringing some of the voters as proof in a press conference. The BJP, however, accused the AAP of protecting illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya migrants.
Retorting to the saffron party’s claim, the AAP unleashed a scathing attack, explaining how the ruling central government facilitated the illegal migrants in the national capital, snatching rights from the people of Delhi. Delhi Chief Minister Atishi accused the Centre of settling Rohingya refugees in the capital city. Atishi last week wrote to Home Minister Amit Shah, raising concern over the issue, pointing out that the BJP-led central government allowed many Rohingyas to settle down in Delhi without informing the AAP-led state government.
