The eight month long ethnic strife in Manipur between two dominant groups resulted in the loss of many lives and displacement of many more from their land. After severe and continuous criticism of opposition over Modi”s silence on Manipur conflict, finally, for the first and only time Prime Minister addressed the issue into his speech in the Parliament in response to the no-confidence motion raised by the opposition on August 10. In the speech spanning over two hours, he touched upon Manipur conflict only few minutes. Modi then said that the central and state governments are working towards peace, and assured that peace will be restored soon Manipur.
