A 26-year-old B.Tech Graduate from Noida was arrested by the police for allegedly stealing laptops worth Rs 10 lakh from paying guest accommodations in Bengaluru. The HAL police tracked down the accused with the help of CCTV visuals and other evidence.
On March 26, the police arrested Jassi Agarwal, a resident of Noida, reports The Hindu. The police took up the investigation when one of the individuals from the PG filed a case about the lost valuables. From the investigation, the police found out that Jassi is a B.Tech graduate who used to work in a private bank for a while. After quitting her job she later started staying in PG. After waiting for the other tenants to leave the room for snack breaks, she would enter their rooms to steal their laptops and other valuable items.
Jassi has stopped working around a year ago. The stolen valuable items were then later sold on the black market. Later when she returned to Bengaluru, she then would moved to another PG to do the same. After quitting the job, the accused focused on stealing high-end devices.
Earlier in Pune, a similar case was registered. A 24-year-old IT professional was arrested in an alleged mobile theft case. The accused, Rushikesh Prabhakar Patil of the KK market area, worked at a private enterprise. The accused who was a frequent visitor at the Ramtekdi digital hub test centre, stole phones from the students who took competitive exams.
The mobiles were stolen from the bags of the students which were left outside the examination halls. The robbery came to light when one of the affected students filed a complaint with the Wanowire police station.
