New Delhi: Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh on Saturday accused the BJP of using a “washing machine” to import leaders in Maharashtra. In his post on X, he claimed that nowhere it was more powerful than in Maharashtra. Moreover, he had called on an immediate investigation into the allegations that the BJP had employed coercion and blackmail to secure the allegiance of Ajit Pawar.
The Congress leader had claimed deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar himself has come forward confirming that blackmail and coercion surrounding these charges were used by the saffron party to bring him over to the NDA.

Jairam Ramesh highlighted in his post that in 2014, the BJP had raised an allegation of corruption by Ajith Pawar who was then serving as the Irrigation and Water Resources Minister. “The non-biological PM himself led the charge, famously labelling the NCP – now his much beloved ally at the State and Centre – as a Naturally Corrupt Party,” he wrote on X.

Ajit Pawar had recently revealed that after he had become the Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis had showed him files recommending an open inquiry against Ajit Pawar in the alleged irrigation scam. “One can only imagine the threat that was implicit in this move: submit to us, or face action,” he added.
As the matter is to be taken of great concern, as it breaches the oath of confidentiality and the Official Secrets Action, the Congress leader has called out for an investigation to be conducted in this matter.

Maharashtra NCP (SP) chief Jayant Patil in an interview with the Indian Express said that Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s allegation that then chief minister Devendra Fadnavis had shown him files signed by former Home Minister late R R Patil for an open inquiry in the alleged Rs 70,000 crore irrigation scam, only showed Fadnavis had blackmailed Ajit Pawar.
