Nitesh Rane, BJP MLA was booked for his hateful speech against Muslims during Hindu Jan Aakrosh rally in Maharashtra”s Solapur. Apart from Rane, BJP’s Telangana legislator, T Raja Singh was also booked for making hate speeches during the rally. The rally was held between Rajendra Chowk and Kanna Chowk on Saturday. It was also attended by leaders of Sakal Hindu Samaj, an umbrella body of several Hindu outifts. The bearers of Sakal Hindu Samaj was also named in the FIR, said police.

The case was registered under sections 153 A (creating enmity between two different groups on ground of religion), 295 A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feeling of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs). Nitesh Rane mentioned words like ‘jihadis’ and demolition of mosques. Raja Singh, MLA of Hyderabad’s Goshamahal was allegedly heard as making objectionable statements on ‘love jihad’, said a media report.

‘Love Jihad’ is a term by right-wing organization alleging that Muslim men “trap” Hindu and Christian women to marry them and force them to convert them to Islam. While speaking to the rally, Raja Singh said, if the people want to make Bharat a Hindu Rashtra, they must send a message to Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde and say him that if his government doesn’t teach a lesson to performing love jihad and ‘gau hatya’, people would take matters into their own hands. The BJP MLA even called on to boycott products having halal certification claiming such products fund “love jihad”.

Rane has made love jihad claims during the festivities of Navaratri, last year. He demanded entry restriction for the festivities. ‘’Hindu women are lied to and lured’’, said Mr Rane. He also notified that non-Hindus are intruding the event wearing “saffron” and similar attires, and identifies “themselves as Hindus”. “So, we have urged the organisers that if they check the Aadhaar cards of everyone coming in, at the entrance, and allow only Hindus, the Hindu women will not face any difficulty”, he added.
