Indian troops along the International Border and the LoC have been put on high alert since the incident.

Since India and Pakistan renewed the ceasefire agreement on February 25, 2021, the ceasefire violation between the two countries has been rare. The first loss of life on the Indian side occurred in 2023 when a BSF jawan was killed in a firing by the Pakistan Rangers in the Ramgarh sector. It was the first loss of life in over three years in India.

On September 9, two terrorists were shot dead during a failed infiltration bid along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district. An anti-infiltration operation was launched on the night of September 8 and 9 in Laam after the Army received inputs from intelligence agencies regarding a potential infiltration attempt. Soon after, a search operation was launched in the region.
