Central Insulted Seven Crore Kannadigas By Denying Opportunity For State's Tableau: Siddaramaiah

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah alleged that the Central Government insulted “seven crore Kannadigas by denying the opportunity for the state”s tableau” at the Republic Day parade to be held in New Delhi on January 26. He also said the state faced similar situation last year as Karnataka’s tableau was initially rejected.

“They later permitted keeping Karnataka elections in mind. This time, the central government has again continued its trend of insulting Kannadigas,” he alleged.

According to Siddaramaiah, several tableau proposals were submitted from Karnataka, encompassing diverse themes such as the contributions of Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar, Kittur Rani Chennamma, Nadaprabhu Kempegowda, as well as showcasing the rich natural heritage and the brand image of Bengaluru. Unfortunately, all these proposals were allegedly rejected by the Central Government”s committee.

The Chief Minister went on to list a series of grievances, including issues to the devolution of tax, drought relief, and the sale of key assets built by Kannadigas. Siddaramaiah accused the Central Government of consistently targeting Kannadigas with what he deemed as “political malice.”

Expressing disappointment with the lack of response from Karnataka”s BJP MPs, Siddaramaiah questioned their loyalty, asking whether they were loyal to Kannadigas or Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He urged the Central Government to correct its alleged mistake promptly and rectify the perceived injustice by allowing Karnataka to participate in the Republic Day tableau presentation.

“The fact that the Congress government is in power in the state seems to be a concerning factor to the BJP-led Central Government. From devolution of tax to the injustice in drought relief, to the sale of banks, ports, and airports built by Kannadigas, the Central Government is constantly attacking Kannadigas with political malice. Now, by denying the state the opportunity in the tableau presentation, it has attacked our identity again,” the chief minister wrote on X.
