Hours after the Rouse Avenue Court granted bail to Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on a bond of Rs one lakh in the excise policy scam, the Delhi High Court today, June 21, halted the bail order, stating that the trial court’s order will not be implemented until the latter reviews the case.
The development came amid the AAP supremo was all set to be released by today 4 pm after the trial court yesterday ordered Kejriwal’s release. After the bail order, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has moved the High Court against the trial court’s decision of granting bail to the chief minister.

The chief minister was arrested in March in connection with the Delhi government’s excise policy. Additional solicitor General SV Raju, representing the ED said the High Court that the trial court’s order did not upload conditions of the bail. The lawyer also claimed that the ED was not given enough opportunity to oppose the bail application of the Delhi chief minister.
However, after agreeing to an urgent hearing plea of the ED challenging the bail order, a bench of the High Court is expected to hear the case soon.
Reacting to the High Court’s decision on the release order of Kejriwal by the trial court, AAP leader Sanjay Singh expressed his puzzlement asking what is happening in the country.
“Look at the hooliganism of Modi Government, the trial court’s order has not come yet, even the copy of the order is not available, then which order has Modi’s ED gone to challenge in High Court? What is happening in this country? Why are you making fun of the justice system Modiji, the whole country is watching you?” the AAP Rajya Sabha MP wrote on X.

Notably, soon after being granted bail, the AAP had celebrated the court order, with several leaders taking to X stating ‘Satyamev Jayate’ (Truth wins).
The allegations in connection with the excise policy scam include the chief minister was part of a conspiracy to intentionally leave loopholes in the now-scrapped Delhi Excise Policy to benefit certain liquor sellers and that the money received illegally through the scam was used to fund AAP’s electoral campaign, and thus holding the party chief accountable for the crime of money laundering.
However, the chief minister has rejected the ED’s allegations
