Delhi-Meerut RRTS: RapidX Fares Announced

The Delhi-Meerut RRTS, India’s first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) connecting the national capital with the neighbouring cities announced its fares. The priority section will commence passenger operation from October 21, a day after its scheduled inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The priority section will have five stations, Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai and Duhai Depot. Every RapidX coach includes a premium coach as well as a women’s coach. The women’s coach is positioned next to the premium coach.

On Wednesday, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) announced that passengers travelling on the train will have to spent Rs 20-50 for a standard coach seat on the 17km priority section from Sahibabad to Duhai Depot in Ghaziabad. While for the passengers who opts to travel in premium coach will have to pay Rs 40-100 per seat for the same distance.

“The fares have been defined from station to station and the present fare charges will be applicable for travelling between five stations of the priority section,” said Puneet Vats, chief public relations officer, NCRTC.

According to the fare chart, the per kilometer cost of travelling on the full 17km priority section is Rs 2.94 in a standard coach and Rs 5.88 on a premium coach, reports Hindustan Times.

Children with height less than 90 cm will be allowed to travel for free. Passengers will be permitted to carry luggage’s weighing up to 25 kg of dimensions 80cm x 50cm x 30cm. Various ticketing options are provided for the passengers which includes digital QR code-based tickets phone app RAPIDX Connect, national common mobility card (NCMC), ticket vending machines (TVM’s) and paper QR code-based journey ticket.

Officials have said that four TVMs are placed at Sahibabad and Ghaziabad station while two each have been positioned at Guldhar, Duhai and Duhai Depot stations.

The premium coaches are equipped with several facilities, like cushioned reclining seats, laptop charging portals, magazine holders, etc.
