The India Meteorological Department predicted on Tuesday that very dense fog was likely to continue over the Northwest and parts of adjoining Central India during the next 3–4 days.
The India Meteorological Department earlier on Tuesday acknowledged the fact that a fog layer was spreading over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and north Madhya Pradesh. In a recent X post, it said the fog was likely to continue for 3–4 days.

From December 26 to 28, these conditions are expected in some parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, dense fog is expected to cover Rajasthan and north Madhya Pradesh on the 26th and 27th, as well as Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad today.
In another forecast, IMD predicted dense fog in isolated pockets on the 26th and 27th in Odisha, from the 26th to the 28th in Uttarakhand, on the 27th and 28th in Jammu-Kashmir, and on the 29th and 30th in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh. The period from the 26th to the 30th of December is also expected to see dense fog in Assam and Meghalaya, as well as Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.
In a press release published on December 25, the IMD said that there was a high probability of dense to very dense fog persisting in the early and morning hours across specific regions.
