Chennai, Tamil Nadu: Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin on Saturday, January 24, slammed governor RN Ravi for declining to read out the DMK government prepared text as part of his customary address in the state Assembly due to alleged inaccuracies, unsubstantiated and misleading statements in the speech.
Stalin said that by not reading speech prepared by this government elected by crores of people, the Governor is disgracing the position he holds.
The Lok Bhavan had issued a detailed clarification, asserting that the Governor was denied an opportunity to speak. Earlier this week, the governor after refusing to read out the text prepared by the state government also walked out of the hall.
The clarification issued by the governor’s office alleged that several crucial issues troubling the people were ignored and the Governor’s microphone was repeatedly switched off and he was not allowed to speak.

The chief minister had reacted by stressing the need to bring necessary amendments to the Constitution to do away with the practice of starting an assembly session with governor’s address.
“The governor walked out in violation of traditions and ethos. In the state government-prepared address, there is no provision for the governor to include his views or say something else,” the Tamil Nadu chief minister said.
