Not "Riot-For-Votes Politics": Stalin Hits Back At CM Yogi's Remark On Language Row

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin attacked Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath over his recent criticism on three-language policy, slamming it as “political black comedy at its darkest.” DMK chief said that Tamil Nadu is not opposing any language, but “oppose imposition and chauvinism.”

In a recent interview with ANI, Uttar Pradesh CM said that Stalin was trying to create divisions based on region and language because he feels his vote bank was at risk. He then said that no language works to divide; it meant to unite. Adityanath championed for a broader perspective, underlining the importance of unity and inclusive approach.

“I believe this is the message conveyed by our National Anthem as well. This is merely narrow politics. When these people feel their vote bank is at risk, they try to create divisions based on region and language. The people of this country should always be alert to such divisive politics and stand firm for the unity of the country,” UP CM said.

Stalin heavily criticised Adityanath’s stand in a post on X. In the post, he reaffirmed its long-standing opposition to Hindi imposition through two language policy and its demand for a fair parliamentary seat delimitation process.

“Tamil Nadu’s fair and firm voice on #TwoLanguagePolicy and #FairDelimitation is echoing nationwide—and the BJP is clearly rattled. Just watch their leaders’ interviews. And now Hon’ble Yogi Adityanath wants to lecture us on hate? Spare us. This isn’t irony—it’s political black comedy at its darkest,” Stalin said in the post.

He further added, “We don’t oppose any language; we oppose imposition and chauvinism. This isn’t riot-for-votes politics. This is a battle for dignity and justice.”

The dispute over the two language policy and delimitation concerns of parliamentary constituencies have been in the political discussion for a while and Tamil Nadu is continuously expressing their strong stand point in this regard.
