Dispute Over Consummating Marriage: 27-Year-Old Newlywed Woman Kills 53-Year-Old Husband
Sangli, Maharashtra: Weeks after the appalling Raja Raghuvanshi honeymoon murder case, another shocking couple case has been reported from Maharashtra’s Sangli district. A 27-year-old woman hacked her husband, 53, to death with an axe when he was asleep on the night of June 10, three weeks after getting married.
The murder reportedly occurred after the couple had an aggressive dispute, over consummating their 15-day-old marriage. Consummation of marriage means making the process complete and official through sexual intercourse, reflecting the actualisation of the union.

The dispute emanated after the husband insisted on consummating his marriage with the woman. The couple got married on May 23. On June 10, after a late night of fighting between the couple, the husband, Anil Lokhande, went to sleep. The accused wife, Radhika Lokhande, at around 12.30 pm picked up an axe and hit her husband on the head in a fit of rage, as per reports citing officials.
The duo were staying in Kupwad tehsil of Sangli district. Lokhande’s marriage to Radhika was his second as his first wife had died due to cancer. Lokhande was constantly asking her to consummate their marriage, which often led to a dispute between the two.
