
Explosions Reported In Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, And Punjab; Blackout In Borders Districts (image-screenshot/X/CapXSid)
As recent development into the ongoing attacks, explosions were reported in several parts of Jammu and Kashmir around 8:30 am as the city experienced a blackout. As per Army sources, drones from Pakistan were spotted in Rajasthan and Punjab on Friday evening as well. This has been the latest provocation after Pakistan had fired 300-400 drones a day before, which were successfully neutralised by the Indian Army.
Multiple explosions, including in Barmer and Pokhran, and drones in Samba (J&K), Pathankot and Ferozepur (Punjab), and Jaisalmer (Rajasthan) were also reported. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah posted on X, “Intermittent sounds of blasts, probably heavy artillery, can now be heard from where I am.”

He also urged citizens to stay off the streets and remain indoors in the following post. “It’s my earnest appeal to everyone in and around Jammu: please stay off the streets, remain at home or at the nearest safe location for the next few hours. Ignore rumours, refrain from spreading unverified or unsubstantiated information, and we will get through this together.”
The state was plunged into darkness after blasts were heard and alarms sounded, officials said.
As per an NDTV report, soon after the drones were spotted, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister had convened a high-level meeting with the top defence establishment to take stock of the security situation just a few hours before the recent provocation.

Pakistan on Thursday had launched a series of coordinated drone and missile attacks along India’s western border, targeting several regions. Defence officials said the attacks were intercepted by India’s air defence systems, including the S-400 missile defence system, preventing significant damage.
