India-Pakistan Tensions Escalate: Complete Blackout In Jammu Amid Missile, Drone Strikes

In a major escalation, Pakistan simultaneously attacked several locations in Jammu, including the airport, Jaisalmer, Punjab and other regions across India. Rockets were fired at Jammu from across the International Border on Thursday night. However, India’s air defence system shot down Pakistan’s F-16 aircraft. Drone attacks have also been foiled in Udhampur, while a drone was shot down in Akhnoor.

Eight Pakistani missiles were intercepted by the S-400 air defence system over Jammu Civil Airport, Samba, RS Pura, Arnia, and nearby areas. Two Pakistani drones were downed near Jammu University, according to India Today.

Meanwhile, Pakistani drones were intercepted in Jaisalmer. Reportedly. two Kamikaze drones were also shot down in Poonch.

Jammu witnessed a total blackout tonight following a series of loud explosions and blaring sirens that gripped the city in panic. Pakistan’s missile strikes were also reported from Srinagar, Punjab’s Pathankot and Jaisalmer in Rajasthan – all border areas.

According to reports, residents spotted missile streaks lighting up the night sky and confirmed the sound of multiple blasts, believed to be shelling, missile strikes, or bombing attempts by Pakistan. Videos of the same flooded social media platforms.

The blackout, reportedly a precautionary measure, was extended to Baramulla as well amid fears of further aerial threats.

Reports indicate that the Jammu airport was among the key targets, facing multiple attempted drone strikes. Widespread drone activity was also reported along the International Border, triggering security alerts across military and civilian installations.

Former Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, Shesh Paul Vaid, took to social media to reassure citizens: “Complete blackout in Jammu. Loud expositions — bombing, shelling, or missile strikes suspected. Fret not — Mata Vaishno Devi is with us, and so are the valiant Indian Armed Forces.”

Defensive systems were reportedly activated, and emergency protocols are in place across northern command zones.

The Indian Armed Forces are said to be on high alert and retaliating with precision strikes under the ongoing Operation Sindoor.
