Former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh (92) rushed to AIIMS Delhi’s emergency department on Thursday evening, December 26, 2024, after his health took a turn for the worse.
His condition is critical, and the reason for his hospitalisation has not been disclosed yet.
He has undergone multiple cardiac bypass surgeries in recent years as the first one took place in January 2009.
Manmohan Singh, India’s 13th Prime Minister has had a remarkable career spanning politics, economics, academia and bureaucracy.
Born on September 26, 1932, he served as Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, making him the fourth longest-serving Prime Minister after Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Narendra Modi.
He married Gursharan Kaur in 1958, and they have three daughters: Upinder Singh, Daman Singh and Amrit Singh. Upinder Singh his eldest daughter, is a professor of history at Ashoka University.
