After informing that he is going to jump into this valley and end my life, Gohil plunged into a nearly 1,700-foot-deep gorge on the border of Thane, Pune and Ahilyanagar districts. He alleged misuse of laws meant to protect women, claiming “90% of cases under Section 498 for domestic violence are fake.

“There is no basis, no evidence and they are entirely verbal.” Gohil alleged, adding that the law has become a weapon to exert mental, physical and financial pressure on husbands and their families, forcing them to die. He further denied allegations that he, his mother and his 16-year-old younger brother beat his wife severely over small matters, calling it “completely fabricated” and alleging police were not seeking evidence. He then lamented that his minor brother was also named in the case.

Regarding the gold dispute, Gohil alleged his wife’s family claimed their gold was with his family while his family’s gold was with them. He alleged reconciliation authorities sided with his wife’s family and did not press for return of his family’s gold despite witnesses. He accused his father-in-law Ajaysinh of intimidating him, and alleged his wife’s family abused his mother.

He asked, “If we had beaten her, she would have gone to hospital, wouldn’t she?”He appealed to the Darbar community, saying when a daughter is married off, it should be for her life, but every minor issue was being labelled torture. He also cited cases in Jamnagar and Delhi to argue women are capable of lust, greed and anger and questioned why law remains tilted in their favour.

In his final appeal, Gohil urged people to share his video and demand change in the law, telling legal authorities to intervene or people will keep dying like him.
