National Award winning actress Kangana Ranaut on Wednesday met Naor Gilon, Israel’s Ambassador to India, and expressed her solidarity with Israel in the ongoing conflict between the country and Palestinians. Israel and Palestine are in war for the last 20 days, and the region especially Gaza had expanded to the level of a humanitarian catastrophe accompanied by deteriorated international laws and intolerable death count already.

Ms Ranaut met the ambassador in New Delhi, amid the promotion of her upcoming film Tejas, confirmed to release on October 27. After the meeting the actress took to her social media handles and said that both India and Israel are fighting war against terrorism. She equated Hamas with modern day ‘Ravana’. Hamas is the Islamic Resistance Movement and military organization governing the Gaza Strip of Palestinian territories, while ‘Ravana’ is the multi-headed demon king and the chief antagonist of the Hindu epic Ramayana.

The actress condemned the way children and women are being targeted in the war and said that the sight is quite “heart-wrenching”. She expressed complete hope that Israel would emerge victorious “in this war against terrorism”. With the Israeli ambassador, Ms Ranaut also discussed about her movie Tejas and India’s self-reliant fighter aircraft on the same name. “My heart goes out to Israel. Our hearts are bleeding too”, she wrote on X (formerly Twitter) sharing the snippets of her meeting with Mr Gilon.

Mr Gilon in return took to his X handle and expressed his gratitude to the actress and also to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “I expressed our heartfelt gratitude not only to her but also to PM @narendramodi ji and our Indian friends for their unwavering support in our shared battle against terrorism”, he wrote. Israel state also acknowledged the actress’ visit and said “We feel the love and warmth all the way from India”, on X.
