How Much Salary A Member Of Parliament Would Draw After Latest Revision

The Central Government has officially notified an increase in the salary, daily allowance, and pension of Members of Parliament (MPs) and ex-MPs, effective from 1st April 2023. The revision, based on the Cost Inflation Index under the Income-tax Act, 1961, marks a significant hike in earnings for the country’s lawmakers.

As per the latest notification issued by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs on 21st March 2025, the monthly salary of MPs has been raised from Rs 1,00,000 to Rs 1,24,000. In addition, their daily allowance has gone up from Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,500, providing an extra boost to their earnings during sessions.

The pension of former MPs has also been increased, with the monthly amount rising from Rs 25,000 to Rs 31,000. Additionally, for those who have served more than five years, the extra pension per year of service has been revised from Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,500.
