India To Witness Record-Breaking Heatwave, Set To Be World’s Hottest Region In Next Two Weeks
New Delhi: India is bracing for an intense heatwave, with analysts predicting that the country could become the hottest region in the world in the next two weeks.
The Indian weather forecasting agency, India Meteorological Department (IMD), has warned that the temperature is likely to rise beyond 45 degrees Celsius, with some areas expected to be near 50 degrees Celsius across several states.

The worst affected regions are reported to be Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Utter Pradesh, and urban areas like Delhi. The urban areas are expected to increase heatwave due to a dense population, infrastructure and limited green cover.
As per the weather experts, the reason for the rising extreme heat in the country is a combination of different factors. The reasons include a persistent high pressure system over the subcontinent, trapping hot air in the heat dome.

The dry westerly wind and delay in pre monsoon showers have further intensified the situation. The lack of a cloud cover enables direct solar radiation to the heat and land surface rapidly. The shortage of rainfall also intensified the heatwave by reducing the cooling effect, making a combined factors to generate extreme heatwave in India.
