US Secretary of State Antony J Blinken and and Secretary of Defence, Lloyd Austin met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday in national capital. They met as part of Fifth Annual India-US 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue.

The two Secretaries briefed Prime Minister on their discussions with Defence Minister of India, Rajnath Singh, and External Affairs Minister, Dr S Jaishankar.

They highlighted advancements in various fields of bilateral cooperation, including defence, semiconductors, emerging technology, space, health, in follow-up to Prime Minister”s Visit to the US in June 2023 and the meeting between the two leaders on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in New Delhi, PIB reports.

During the meeting, Mr Blinken and Mr Modi acknowledged both countries” shared vision and close partnership in the Indo-Pacific on matters concerning global importance. The leaders also exchanged views on various regional and global issues, and underlined significance of working together to address ongoing issues such Russia”s war against Ukraine and conflict in the Middle East.

Mr Modi extended satisfaction at the stregthening cooperation of both countries in all areas. He also emphasised that the Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership between India and the US is secured in democracy, pluralism, and respect for rule of law.

Thereafter, Mr Modi expressed warm greetings to US President Joe Biden and said that he is looking forward to his continued exchanges with President.

Welcoming US diplomats, Prime Minister wrote on social media platform X, “The India-US partnership is truly a force for global good.”

Began in 2018, the 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue is a diplomatic summit held every year with the Minister of External Affairs and the Defence Minister representing India and the Secretary of State and the Secretary of Defence representing the US. The discussions pertaining to common issues of concern between two countries.
