It is unprecedented to have such open attacks on civilians even in war times.
Congress has asked the Indian government to urge Israel, the USA, and the EU to declare a ceasefire immediately. Earlier, Congress had strongly criticized India’s abstention on the UN resolution on the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Congress’s former party chief, Sonia Gandhi, acknowledged this at a press meet, saying her party unequivocally condemns the act of Hamas too, as the Hamas attack triggered unrest in Gaza, pushing Israel to retaliatory measures.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, a Congress leader, also called the killing of more than 10,000 individuals in Gaza deplorable and disgraceful. Moreover, Congress alleged that by abstaining on the UN resolution, the BJP-led government is endorsing and enabling this destructive situation, which is a shameful act.
“The CWC expresses its dismay and anguish on the war that has broken out in the Middle East where over a thousand people have been killed in the last two days. The CWC reiterates its long-standing support for the rights of the Palestinian people to land, self-government, and to live with dignity and respect,” the resolution passed by the Congress Working Committee (CWC).”
