The #exploreIndianIsland is a trend now. Ever since the diplomatic row between Maldives and India started, celebrities and prominent figures in India are using the hashtag, and sharing pictures of Lakshadweep, and prompting to visit the archipelago. Israel Embassy in India too joined the trend on social media.
Taking to their X (formerly twitter), the embassy shared pictures of the Island and said that they were in Lakshadweep last year for federal government’s “request to initiate the desalination program. Israel is ready to commence working on this project tomorrow”. The post also called Lakshadweep, “the pristine and majestic underwater beauty”.

After Maldives ministers’ made the “derogatory comments” on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Lakshadweep, the island nation has suspended ministers Maryam Shiuna, Malsha Shareef and Mahzoom Majid.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs today issued a statement on the stand of the Government of India in relation to some posts on social media that are insulting to neighboring India. Those who made such posts on social media while in government positions have now been suspended from their jobs,” the Maldives government said in a statement.
In an “appeal to Boycott Maldives”, the Aviation and Tourism Committee of Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) also appealed to all members and tourism trade associations to stop promoting Maldives in view of the anti-India feelings expressed by the three ministers of Maldives. Earlier, Indian travel company EaseMyTrip has decided to suspend all Maldives flight bookings.
