Karnataka Police Book BJP MLC CT Ravi Over Alleged Hate Speech On NEET Protests
Chikkamagaluru, Karnataka: Karnataka Police on Saturday registered an FIR against BJP MLC C T Ravi for allegedly delivering a hate speech during protests over the NEET paper leak. The FIR was registered by Chikkamagaluru Town Police following directions from the Principal Civil Judge and Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in the district.
Ravi allegedly questioned the link between the Muslim community and the NEET protests. Karnataka State Muslim Federation has urged the government to take action against Ravi for dragging communal issues into the NEET controversy. Ravi said “What is the connection between a mulla and the NEET examination? A mulla, who is completely illiterate, comes and participates in a NEET protest,” alleging that “anti-national elements” and members of the “tukde tukde gang” who opposed CAA and NRC were participating in the demonstrations.

The case has been filed under Section 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).The complaint was filed by Mudassir Pasha, president of Jamia Masjid in Chikkamagaluru. According to the FIR, Ravi made the remarks while addressing a gathering after a protest march organised by the Youth for Nation organisation in Chikkamagaluru.
The complainant said the remarks were aimed at spreading hatred against the Muslim community and disturbing communal harmony. The Karnataka State Muslim Federation condemned the statements and urged the government to take action.
