National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday said that Kashmir would meet the same fate of Gaza if India doesn’t find solution through dialogue with Pakistan. While speaking to the reporters, the Srinagar MP made this notable remark. He stressed that unless dialogue begins, “we may meet the same fate as Gaza”.

The Srinagar MP referred to former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s statement on India-Pakistan relations that ‘we can change our friends, but not our neighbours”.

“Atal Bihari Vajpayee (former PM) had said we can change our friends but not our neighbours. If we remain friendly with our neighbours, both will progress. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also said war is not an option now and the matters should be resolved through dialogue,” Farooq Abdullah said while speaking to ANI.

Farooq Abdullah’s remark came after the terror attack in Poonch which caused the life of five soldiers and the death of three civilians in the very next day.

He then while speaking to reporter added that Nawas Sherif is about to become the prime minister of Pakistan and they are ready for a dialogue with India while India is not. He then asks the reason for not making a move for a discussion.

Earlier, Abdullah has said that terrorism is still active in Kashmir and cannot be removed by using military or police, urging the central government to address the root cause of the menace. He also slammed BJP’s claim of normalcy in the state since its special status was revoked in 2019, reports Hindustan Times.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Dr Hina Shafi Bhat criticised the MP’s remark. She said that it is regrettable to see a senior leader from Jammu and Kashmir still talking about talks with Pakistan. “Farooq Abdullah’s remark came after the terror attack in Poonch which caused the life of five soldiers,” she added.
