
Kerala Man, N Ramachandran, Killed In Pahalgam Attack; Family Escapes (image:amrityum.com/)
Kochi, Kerala: Tuesday’s terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam killed at least 28 people, mostly tourists, shocking the entire country. Among those killed include Kerala native N Ramachandran. He was killed when the terrorists opened fire on the tourists while they were enjoying the scenic natural beauty of the Baisaran meadow, known as mini Switzerland.
A resident of Kochi, Ramachandran was gunned down in front of his daughter and grandsons. The 65-year-old had traveled to Kashmir with his family for a vacation, on Monday, April 21.

A retired Gulf expatriate, Ramachandran was living in Kochi, Edappally. As his daughter, Aarthi R Menon, came from Dubai a few days ago, the family planned a vacation to Kashmir.
According to Ramachandran’s cousin, Induchoodan, Aarthi managed to run away to safety with her twin sons when the attack occurred. Induchoodan said that Ramachandran was excited and happy about the Kashmir trip, Onmanorama quotes the victim’s cousin.
According to a report by RSS mouthpiece Organizer, Ramachandran, “had been an RSS Swayamsevak in Edappally, Kochi since 1977.” A social media post from the news portal claimed that Ramachandran was a former Mukhya Shikshak of Devangulangara Sakha, and had contested as a BJP candidate in the 1991 district council polls.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan condemned the attack, stating that those behind this heinous act must be brought to justice. He urged people to stand united against such violence and reaffirm their commitment to peace and harmony. The victim’s body was shifted to SMHS Hospital, Srinagar, and is expected to be brought back to Kerala on Wednesday after completing the necessary procedures.
Notably, three judges of the Kerala High Court, Anil K Narendran, G Girish and PG Ajithkumar, who went to Kashmir along with their families, were reported to be safe and had a narrow escape as they returned from Pahalgam to Srinagar a few hours ahead of the attack.
